READ MORE ABOUT EACH TECHNIQUE
The basic dye sublimation process uses special heat-sensitive dyes to print graphics, text and virtually any image onto special transfer paper. The paper is then placed on the pre-cut fabric pattern and both are placed into a heat press. When the heating cycle is completed, the image on the paper has been transferred to the fabric and has actually bonded with the fabric at the molecular level. There are no bumps, pulls and changes to the garment's feel.
Dye sublimation is always done on a polyester, polymer, or polymer-coated item, in the case of team uniforms either 100% or mostly polyester fabrics. At high temperatures, the solid dye vaporizes into a gas without ever becoming a liquid. The same high temperature opens the pores of the polyester fabric and allows the dye vapour to enter. When the temperature cools, the pores close and the gas reverts to a solid state trapping the dye into the fibre of the fabric. It has now become a permanent part of the fabric.
A DYE impregnates colour into a material and this colour change is permanent. SUBLIMATION refers to the change from the solid, to the gaseous state without becoming liquid. DYE SUBLIMATION refers to solid dye particles that are changed into gas using heat and pressure, which then bond with any polymers present and change back into a solid.
Benefits of Dye-Sublimation
Dye sublimation is a process in which all uniform colours and design elements including logos, lettering, numbers, team names, sponsor logos, etc. are dyed directly into the fabric. Items also hold their performance values and are not restricted or blocked by external inks, patches or embroideries. This means the materials are lightweight and breathable.
Customization options with Dye-Sublimation are very expansive, far more than traditional stock or cut-and-sew garments. Colour options are also very extensive and allow a wider range of options to meet your brand and custom needs. We offer a full range of decoration services to help meet the look and feel you want out of your brand. We have spent years selecting the best decoration teams in the game to bring you the selection you want at the quality you expect. Reordering with dye-sublimation is also a breeze. While inline and stock custom items may change or go out of line because dye-sublimation is an art file you can order your designs again and again without worry.
